These classes are specially designed to allow woman to regain full range of motion to those areas affected by breast cancer surgery. They will help stretch and strengthen the shoulders, chest, back, and abdominal muscles and follow the US Pink Ribbon Programme TM which is now becoming widespread in the UK.

This program is suitable whether your surgery was recent or several years ago and accommodates all fitness levels.

Led by a Rehabilitative Breast Cancer Exercise Specialist, this programme is unique to the island and harnesses the benefits of Pilates to develop an exercise programme that can bring many benefits:

• Regain Strength and Mobility in the Affected Shoulder & Arm
• Promotes Lymphatic Drainage, Helping to Prevent Lymphedema
• Improves Functional Ability & Quality of Life
• Enhances & Restores Energy Levels
• Assists in Restoring Posture
• Decreases Stress & Anxiety
• Alleviates Pain & Swelling

These unique small group classes will help to deal with some of these issues during recovery, but more than that, will also offer a chance to meet other people with whom to share the recovery journey in a positive environment. Whilst exercise may be the last thing you feel like doing after breast cancer surgery, and all you want to do is rest, recent studies do indicate a link between moderate physical exercise and improved quality of life for breast cancer sufferers.

Classes are also held periodically in Ryde at Ryde Chiropractic & Complementary Therapies. They cost £120 for a 6 week programme which includes:

• initial 1:1 assessment
• 12 half hour classes
• final assessment on completion of programme
• exercise book and band

A 1:1 Pink Ribbon Programme is also available at a cost of £300.  This option can take place in the comfort of your own home or at a designated venue at a time to suit you.
