If you have an injury, illness, medical condition, or are pregnant or just had a baby, some of our exercises might not be right for you. Since many conditions are invisible even to our teachers’ trained eyes, please let each teacher know about any injuries or illnesses prior to the start of class.

Balance My World Pilates group classes are not appropriate for several medical conditions without significant modifications.

Contraindications for Balance My World  Progression classes include:

  • Spinal conditions such as herniated or prolapsed discs, spinal stenosis, spondylosis, scoliosis etc.
  • Osteoporosis
  • Hip or knee replacement
  • Pregnancy or recent childbirth

On top of medical conditions and injuries, we believe strongly that it is your responsibility as a participant to stop doing an exercise if it feels wrong for your body in any way.  Always work within a pain free range of movement and stop immediately if you feel any pain at all.

Please ask your Instructor for a modified exercise (or a different one) if your body tells you it needs it.

Private 1:1 sessions are a great way to experience Pilates in a situation that is safe for your medical condition. You can choose from a Beginners Induction or a 1:1 Postural Assessment & Induction depending on your needs. These sessions are essential for complete beginners or clients who have an identified health condition and patients who have been advised to consider Pilate to help with a condition, should choose one of these options.
